Beneficiaries

ECONOMIC IMPACT - The Boulder Chamber of Commerce and the University of Colorado estimate the total economic impact of the race to the city of Boulder to be approximately $10 million each year. 80,000-100,000 spectators and participants travel to Boulder from across the state for Memorial Day weekend. This influx of visitors translates into tax revenue, sales and additional profits for locally owned restaurants, hotels, and retail shops throughout the city.  For a summary of BolderBOULDER's finances, click here

CU CROSS COUNTRY SCHOLARSHIP - BolderBOULDER facilitates and contributes to donations for the University of Colorado's top-ranked Cross Country team. A donation box on the entry form raises enough for at least one full scholarship a year.

ONE WORLD RUNNING SHOE DRIVE-BolderBOULDER collects shoes for One World Running at our store and office. Shoes are distributed to under-privileged athletes all over the world. Unusable shoes are collected for Ecocycle. They are then ground up and made into athletic surfaces such as basketball courts, tennis courts and school playgrounds.

HEALTHY HEARTS - BolderBOULDER helps promote physical fitness and a healthy lifestyle. 46% of participants run only one race each year, the BolderBOULDER. 33% of those participants train for one to four months leading up to the race.

RECYCLING - 1In 2010 200,000 cups from the course aid stations were composted and diverted from landfills.  Another 12.65 tons of recyclable materials from Folsom Field were diverted to recycling facilities.  BolderBOULDER encourages and works with vendors to bulk pack shipments to reduce packaging waste and weight in transit while saving our voluteers hours of time unwrapping items.

SUPPORTING THE RUNNING COMMUNITY - BolderBOULDER donates bib numbers, supplies, T-shirts and assistance to numerous community events.
