Time Gerke
Born in Peoria, IL on April 1, 1980, Tim ran out of the womb. Just kidding. He has been a sports and activities junkie since birth, but Tim's running career began as a casual hobby in grade school as a half mile and mile trackster. A decision to make his running more serious was to run cross country in high school despite a fear of such long races (3miles). From there it was all downhill. He began to enjoy running more with every passing experience, and was running 5K's and other longer races up to 10 milers year round until one fateful day a friend convinced him to train for a marathon. The result was a respectable 3:05 finish at chicago and a need to run another, and another, ...
Tim believes in prodding (not pushing) the limits in order to find them. He finds this endeavor to be exciting and entertaining and constantly suggests others to strive for "the next level," intelligently of course. He has been coaching in some form or another from leading group workouts in college running clubs to BBTC since 2000.
His most memorable race was a wet and muddy trail half marathon in Indiana where he ran the last half on pure adrenaline, not from the race or running, but from the lighting striking in the forest all around. He lived to tell the tale.
