How Does a Virtual Race Work?
Virtual event participants can run in their own neighborhood, or anywhere they choose. The virtual event will be added to the existing live events taking place in Boulder , Colorado on May 24th, 2009, where thousands of runners and fans are expected to gather again this coming year for this one of a kind event.
Virtual event participants can sign up, map an event route on MapMyRun.com by pointing-and-clicking where they want to run their event, and collecting data while they run the event using Nike +, Garmin, Timex, and/or iMapMyRun iPhone GPS data collection devices.
Virtual participants' finish times will be posted on a separate results page along with participants in the BolderBoulder one week after the race. BolderBoulder will send all Virtual Event participants an official race T-shirt, a bib number, a CD with songs from course bands, a keepsake lunch bag and a results certificate.
