Half Marathon Training - Rock n Roll Arizona
We will provide an alternative half marathon schedule for those looking to stay motivated by training more towards a half marathon in early 2009. This training schedule is designed to help you maintain fitness over this period of the year and not necessarilly to get you in P.R. shape.
Our selected goal race is the Rock n Roll Arizona Half on January 17th. This will feature as a BoldRunning group trip event.
Trail Running Option
For those who enjoy trail running, we will offer an option to run on trails with a smaller group on Saturday runs. Tuesday hard workouts will be combined with the regular program. The group will meet at a variety of trail head locations in and around the Boulder area.
This program is for all runners that can already run at least 6 miles at 10 minute per mile pace or faster.
How Does It Work?
Runners will be placed into pace groups of similar ability with customized schedules for each group. Members meet every week with their group at a pre-determined running location. Professionally trained coaches guide you through each workout and monitor your progress through the BoldRunning online member site. In addition, your coach will be available via email if you have training questions, need advice, or just a little extra motivation.
Members will be given access to the Training site shortly before the program begins.
Pace Groups
Schedules are customized for each ability group, categorized as follows (half marathon pace you want to run after 8 weeks of training, not today):
- Sub 1:30/3:00 (about 7 minute mile pace)
- Sub 1:45/3:30 (about 8 minute mile pace)
- Sub 2:00/4:00 (about 9 minute mile pace)
- Sub 2:15/4:30 (about 10 minute mile pace)
- Sub 2:30/5:00 (about 11 minute mile pace)
- I just want to Run the Whole way and Finish
Choose a group workout as your primary workout day. This is the day you will meet with your coach and pace group. You can attend 2 group workouts every week.
Group Workout Locations
Meeting locations are posted to the BoldRunning member site at the start of each week.
There are 4 or 5 main locations in both Boulder and Denver that are used for training runs, depending on the nature of the workout.
