The 2022 ColderBOLDER 5K will take place on Saturday, December 10th.

IMPORTANT RACE DAY INFORMATION

  • All race packets have been mailed/delivered.
  • Please pick up your race packet by Friday, December 9th. Packets WILL NOT be transferred for pick-up on Race Day. 
  • A text and an email were sent to you with your packet pickup information.
  • Don’t forget your bib!
  • Don’t forget your food wristband!

What are the best options for parking?

Parking is available on the CU Campus for $5.00.

Parking Locations:

  • Lot 169 – Folsom – No Accessible Parking
  • Lot 436 – CU Event Center Lot -Accessible Parking available
  • Lot 391 – Folsom Parking Garage – No Accessible Parking – Can take elevator to concourse.

Use the following link to pre-register your vehicle on the CU website.

  • Please click on “other” event type and then “Colder Bolder 2022”.
  • Enter December 10thfor start and end date. Permits are valid all day.
  • From there you can choose either lot 169, 391 or 436.
  • You will need a license plate number to purchase the permit.
  • Lot 436 has accessible parking; Lot 391 and Lot 169 do not.

Runner Drop Off

Don’t want to pay for parking? That’s cool, just use the Runner Drop Off Areas instead!

South on Folsom Drive then West onto Stadium Drive. There will be signage and volunteers to direct you to the exact location on Stadium Drive.

Are there Aid Stations and Porta-lets along the course?

Yes! Mile 2 will have an aid station. No porta-lets on the course. Restrooms are available inside the field house.

Is there a bag check?

Yes, there will be a bag check inside the Fieldhouse.

REGISTRATION

Registration is closed!

The 2022 race has filled up! Check back next year in September to register for the 2023 race.

What day is the ColderBOLDER?

The 2022 ColderBOULDER will be held Saturday, December 10th on the CU campus.

Can I run virtually?
Yes, there is a virtual option available with online registration.
 
All virtual participants will receive all the goodies in the race packet (shirt, beanie, $20 gift card from In Motion Running in Boulder, and a finisher medal).
 
You can run anytime from Friday, December 9th – Sunday, December 11th. We’ll send instructions before race day with specifics to submit your finish time.
Switching from Virtual to In-person ColderBOLDER 5k

If you have registered for the Virtual ColderBOLDER 5k and would like to run in-person, you will need to have an official bib with a timing chip, and also will need to be placed in a Race.

Switching to the Virtual ColderBOLDER 5k once Packets are Fulfilled

Packets will be fulfilled in November. If you need to change to the Virtual ColderBOLDER 5k, please contact [email protected] and we will assist you. 

 

We will switch you to the virtual run and email you a link to submit your virtual 5k run. You can run anytime between Friday Dec.9th and Sunday Dec. 11th. You do not need a new bib to run virtually. 

 

Your race medal will be mailed to you once your result has been submitted for $5.00, which will be added to your account, and you can pay online. 

Is there a refund or cancellation policy?

All entry fees are non-refundable. During the registration process acknowledgment of this policy is made. Once a runner registers, race items will be immediately ordered and printed for a participants’ registration. There are NO exceptions.

In case of cancellation, participants will be transferred to our virtual option.

Can I do this with friends or family? Yes.
Like all of our events, whether in person or virtual, doing them with friends and family is always more fun. So challenge them to join you. The more the merrier. Share your experience with us! Tag your photos and videos with #COLDERBOLDER
Can I register on Race Day?
There is no race day registration for the ColderBOLDER.

PACKET DELIVERY

When will my packet be ready for pick up?

Packet Pick-Up – to pick up at one of our partner locations. We offer a number of locations along the front range. You will receive details about your packet once delivered.

Race Day Packet Pick-Up – packets will be available race morning beginning at 6:00 am inside the south entrance to Balch Fieldhouse (1951 COLORADO AVE, BOULDER, CO 80305).

Mail – packets will be sent via USPS Priority Mail. You will receive an email with tracking details once it has left our office.

International Shipping – for our special participants living outside the US we do offer shipping. Our office will contact you directly regarding costs to ship your package internationally.

Can I pick up my packet on race day?

Yes! One of the packet pick-up options available during the registration process offered is a Race Day option. Packets will be available beginning at 6:00 AM inside the Balch Field House not far from the start area.

How long will my packet be available at my packet pickup location?

Your ColderBOLDER race packet will be available until store closing time on Friday, December 9th. RACE PACKETS ARE NOT TRANSFERRED TO RACE DAY PACKET PICKUP!

Can I have my race packet mailed?

YES. Shipping and handling charge will be added at checkout.

RESULTS & AWARDS

Will there be Medals?

The top three men and women in each race win Medals, that’s 84 medalists total. So come break out in a cold sweat with us. Pour cold water on those winter blues.

Is the event timed?

Yes. The ColderBOLDER 5K is timed. When you get your race packet, your personal bib with your race number will have a timing tag already affixed. On race day, just wear your bib (this is how we track your time).

How will I get my results?

We know that most of the time, it’s all about your time. Your results will be posted on our website for adults who didn’t Opt-Out of results publishing and youth aged 14 and younger with a parent’s consent.

I'm running Virtually - how do I submit my time?

All details will be provided in your Kick-Off email! Stay tuned.

MISCELLANEOUS

Can I VolRUNteer?

Absolutely! We have both individual and group volunteer positions (we do not have Work For Entry positions for ColderBOLDER). For more information on how to volunteer for the ColderBOLDER 5K please e-mail [email protected]

How can I become a sponsor?

For more information on becoming a ColderBOLDER 5K sponsor or expo vendor, please e-mail [email protected], our Partnerships Director.

Is the course wheelchair accessible?

YES! Contact us for wave placement and safety details at [email protected] or 720-236-1955.

What if I lose my bib?

No problem. For $10 we can re-issue and assign you a new bib at the solutions tent on race day or through our race office. To request a new bib, please email us [email protected]

Can I give my bib to someone else?

As a part of our sanctioning, we work with USATF, the National Governing Body for Track and Field and for road running events. According to their rules – No athlete shall be permitted to participate in any competition without the appropriate bib number. As a part of the registration process, you have agreed that bib numbers and timing devices are not transferable to anyone or any organization for any purpose. Not wearing an assigned bib may result disqualification and being excluded from participating in future races.

Can I exchange my shirt for a different size?

If extra shirts are available, exchanges will be handled the week following the ColderBOLDER 5K. Contact [email protected] with questions.

Is there anything I can't do? Pets? Strollers?

In order to keep everyone on their feet, pets need to stay at home. Strollers and skates as well as costumes that extend beyond the body are prohibited. There are no refunds, exchanges or transfers on registration fees.
