  • Individual VolRUNteers must be a minimum of 16 years old on race day.
  • VolRUNteer positions are 4-6 hours long.
  • Most positions start between 5:30am and 9:30 am. Set your alarm!
  • Wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather. This is an outdoor event, rain or shine!

Aid Station

Description:
The main duties of Aid Station volunteers are hand out water and Gatorade to runners and walkers at designated locations along the course. They are also tasked to help set up and tear down their Aid Station, sweep up and dispose of cups from the course, and cheer on the BOLDERBoulder racers!

Course Marshal - Citizens Race

Description:
Course Marshals are responsible for one-mile sections of the race course and are assigned specific tasks and locations within that mile.
They must be able to communicate clearly with both participants and spectators and keep the course safe for runners and walkers by keeping cars, bicycles, and other obstacles off the course. They also act as cheerleaders for our runners and walkers, so clap, cheer, and ring those cowbells!. Dress comfortably, wear closed-toe shoes, and be prepared for the weather! You will be outdoors and on your feet the entire morning.
* Marshals maybe asked to work a different Mile based on race needs. We do our very best to keep you on your chosen mile! Watch for a reminder email the week before the race with your confirmed Mile # and meeting spot!

Course Marshal - Pro Race

Description:
Course Marshals are responsible for one-mile sections of the race course and are assigned specific tasks and locations within that mile.
They must be able to communicate clearly with both participants and spectators and keep the course safe for runners and walkers by keeping cars, bicycles, and other obstacles off the course. Course Marshals will stay on course through the completion of the citizen waves AND the Pro Women and Pro Men Races. The Pro Races are very quick and an important time to keep the course clear of spectators, vehicles, and other obstacles. Dress comfortably, wear closed-toe shoes, and be prepared for the weather! You will be outdoors and on your feet the entire morning.

Description:
You will be working with our key team at the Finish Line of the race. This task requires excellent people skills, the ability to follow detailed instructions, and a professional attitude for the duration of the race. Volunteers in this position must feel comfortable working with the public and be able to be excited, energized, and engaged at all times. Volunteers must be assertive, able to speak out in a crowded location, and able to lift at least 35 pounds. Additional tasks may be assigned as needed.

Stadium- Bandit Patrol

Description:
Bandit Patrol monitors the race as participants near the stadium. They are responsible for making sure runners are wearing an official bib number and asking un-registered persons to exit the course. They enforce the “rules of the road” to maintain a safe environment for participant and spectators. Bandit Patrol volunteers should bring their outgoing and friendly personality!

Description:
Operators – This is a fun morning with hundreds of volunteers! Lunch Pack Operators work in assembly line fashion filling tens of thousands of snack bags for BOLDERBoulder racers and then clean up the work area when snack bag packing is complete. VOLUNTEERS MUST BE AT LEAST 14 YEARS OLD.

Supervisors – While Snack Bag Pack Supervisor experience is preferred, we can train you to do this job. Snack Bag Pack Operator experience is required.

Group VolRUNteers

  • Our volunteer groups know that working together at the BOLDERBoulder is the most fun way to fundraise!
  • Organize a group to help us run the race on Memorial Day, and we will donate to your non-profit or charity of choice.
  • All volunteers also receive a VolRUNteer shirt & snack bag, plus a front-row seat to America’s All-Time Best 10k!
  • Donations begin at $40.00 per volunteer (for those who complete the assigned shift). We do have some positions that pay more.
FAQs
  • Group size of 8-50
  • Please do not over-commit your group size.  We will try to increase it later if needed.
  • Group Leader must be aged 18+.
  • VolRUNteers must be a minimum of 14 years old. Some jobs require age 18.
  • VolRUNteer positions are 4-6 hours long.
  • Many positions start between 5:30am and 9:30 am. Set your alarm!
  • Groups are placed in positions based on race needs and group size.
  • You may request a job, but we cannot guarantee availability.
  • Invite group members, staff, friends, families, and neighbors to join your cause! Anyone who wants to help you fundraise can be part of your group.
  • Your non-profit will receive a donation from the BOLDERBoulder after the race, based on the number of volunteers your group had VolRUNteer on race day.
